Optimistic Trio!X Reader

It had been a while since you had smiled. The depression had sunk in a few years ago, when was the last time your family and friends had heard you laugh over a joke? Or had seen your lips pull back into a smile? Too long, far too long. It was your fault that people found you to be a freak and that their heavy, cruel words had overpowered the kind, sweet, words of your friends and family.

Your three best friends hated seeing you like this, knowing that you felt completely worthless. So they devised a plan to make you feel a bit better. It was based off of a lesson Alfred had remembered from elementary school. Surprisingly, Spain and Italy had actually approved of it! After perking her up, they would watch her favorite childhood movies and go get gelato. Why gelato? Because why not?

They walked over to your house and knocked on the door. Your mother (or mother figure, I don’t know your home life) answered and asked why they were here.

“Well we want to cheer her up, we’ve been worried about her for a while and thought she’d bounce back but…” Alfred began.

“But she hasn’t, at all, Ella sigue siendo deprimido.” Antonio finished. (1)

Your mother nodded, understanding what Antonio meant (after he whispered the translation) and told them that you were in your room. Frowning out of anxiety, she asked them, “Please help her out of this without startling her too much.”

The boys all nodded and when up to her room. It was in shambles she was a normally tidy person but the clothes all over the floor, books lying pages down to the floor told a different story, the curtains were drawn, making the room look even darker. Amongst all this somewhat chaos you were wrapped up in blankets, dressed for the day but not moving from your bed.

Alfred gently shook your shoulder and asked if you were okay. You shook your head no and turned over.

“Now look here, we ain't leaving until we’ve cheered you up, Antonio, Feliciano and I have been worried sick what’s gotten you so down?” He asked as they all sat down on your bed.

“People at school. They’ve been saying things calling me a freak, saying I’m worthless, that I might as well not even exist at the school. They’ve even said I…slept with Feli here.”

Alfred sighed and pulled you in for a hug, then Antonio, and Feliciano. They were all soft and warm; these were your best friends why did you alienate them? Mostly it was to stop the rumors, but that didn’t help much either. They all pulled away and Antonio cleared his throat to speak.

“Chica, let me tell you something we all learned in elementary school okay?” He pulled out a dollar from his pocket and held it up. “Is this worth something?” He asked you.
“Yes.”

He crumpled up the dollar in his hands.  “Is it worth something?”

“Yes it’s only crumpled.” You were a bit confused as to where this was leading but you were sure it meant something, whatever it was. Antonio smoothed the bill out and stomped on it.

“Do you still think it’s worth something?” He asked.

“Of course it is.” You answered.

He then ripped it.

“One last time, still worth something?”

“Yes but what is the relevance of this?” You wondered why he just did all that.

“Because chica, life has ups and downs, both life and people will not always be kind. You will be crumpled up, stomped on, and ripped up. But that doesn’t mean you don’t matter, or that you’re not worth anything. You are worth more than you think to your friends and family.”

“Si. Toni’s right! You are bright and have a promising future ahead of you! And you mean a lot to us and we’ll always be here to help you out of anything.” Feliciano said. (2)

That was when the tears came but this time they weren’t sad, these tears came from being so overcome with emotion.

“Yeah! What else are best friends for away! “It’s a good life we all live and may it never change”. Alfred quoted.

“And may it never change us.” You said with a smile. (3)

“Come on who’s up for buying gelato and your favorite childhood movies?” Alfred asked walking out the door.

“Count me in!” You said trying to detangle yourself from your bed sheets but only ended up falling on the floor.

“Smooth one bella. You’re so very graceful today.” Feliciano said while helping you up.

“Aren’t I?” Was your only response.

You walked out to see that there were many containers of the cold treat and many DVD’s of your favorite movies. You knew this was going to be a good day, just like you knew that you’d always remember Toni’s lecture.

(1) Meaning “She’s still depressed.”  I used a translator app on my ipod.
(2) One of my teachers actually gave this lecture to my class in 5th grade. It was the inspiration behind this.
(3) Yep Alfred and you quote Assassin’s  Creed II.
Oh lookie there I created a new trio, seriously though these characters are almost always happy and cheerful that's why I choose them to be in this.
Not going to lie I almost cried while writing this if only I had remembered this during my depression all those years ago. Am I the only fan who thought when I was writing Toni I thought of Tony Dinozo of NCIS? (did I even spell his name right?)
